Live the lifestyle you love—with the dog you’ve always wanted.
TWO WAYS TO TRAIN, ONE CLEAR GOAL
If you’re struggling to stay consistent with your dog’s training—whether due to family demands, a busy schedule, or simply feeling unsure of what to do—our Board and Train program offers a powerful opportunity to hit the reset button.
Dogs learn through repetition and structure, and in this program, your dog will live in a calm, home-based environment designed specifically for training. We not only work to address existing behavior issues, but also build new, reliable behaviors and lay the kind of foundation that prevents problems down the line.
This is not a quick fix or a program for owners who aren’t committed to their dog’s progress. It’s for those who are ready to invest in their dog’s growth, build smoother day-to-day handling, and move toward reliable off-leash control. It’s also a stepping stone into private coaching and continued success at home—with your dog trained and conditioned for the lifestyle you want.
Our programs are reinforcement-based, and we always begin with food and engagement to teach behavior before layering in any tools for clarity. We want dogs that are happy, willing participants in the training process—not just compliant.
Before we begin, we schedule an in-person evaluation to assess your dog, discuss goals, and determine the program structure that best fits your current skill level and your dog’s needs. Every program is customized to your dog’s genetics, temperament, and behavior.
Throughout the program, you’ll receive daily photo and video updates directly from me. Some content may also be featured on our public Instagram page, @astralk9s, so you can watch your dog’s transformation in real time.
Because your dog lives in my home and shares space with my personal dogs, I accept only a limited number of dogs at a time. This allows me to maintain a peaceful environment and provide the level of attention each dog deserves. My availability typically books 1–3 months in advance.
Board and Train programs require a minimum of 2 to 3 weeks.
This minimum is in place because we do not believe in rushing results or unethically agreeing to programs that won’t truly benefit the dog or the owner. Transparency is everything at Astral K9—it’s one of our core values. We’re committed to honest, results-driven training that respects the process and prioritizes each dog’s long-term success.

Case-by-case exceptions may apply depending on behavior or goals.
Puppy raise-and-train programs are also available.

Looking for a personalized, in-person dog training experience that builds your handling skills and sets you up with a clear training plan?
Our 1:1 private lessons are designed to help you work directly with Alexandria—and often one of her trained mentor dogs—in a focused, one-on-one setting.
Training begins in a calm, controlled environment and gradually transitions into real-life scenarios, including public spaces and busier environments. Each session is tailored to your dog’s behavior and your current skill level, ensuring that you're building a strong foundation for long-term success.
These lessons offer the opportunity to learn alongside your dog, observe how techniques are applied in real time, and receive direct feedback on leash handling, timing, and communication. You’ll gain the skills needed to confidently guide your dog in both structured training and everyday situations.

Astral K9 is a woman-owned business founded in 2020.
It all started with a dream—and a rescue Belgian Malinois named Meeko.
When Alexandria adopted Meeko, she quickly realized that her childhood experience with dogs wasn’t enough to meet the needs of a high-drive working breed. Determined to adapt and learn, she immersed herself in education: shadowing reputable trainers across California, studying Michael Ellis courses, attending seminars, falling in love with shaping and classical conditioning, volunteering in local shelters, donating time to evaluate red-listed dogs, and fostering high-drive working breeds.
What began as curiosity quickly became a passion—and eventually, a profession.
Today, Alexandria has crafted a balanced, reward-based approach to dog training that blends science-backed methods with real-world application. Every program is built thoughtfully and intentionally—there’s no one-size-fits-all formula. Her training focuses on clear communication, strong relationship-building, and, when appropriate, the responsible use of tools to enhance clarity and off-leash reliability.
Alexandria has a special passion for Belgian Malinois and owns three highly trained working dogs: Meeko, Riley, and Astra. All three serve as demo dogs in her programs and are CGC, CGC-A, and CGC-U certified.
Meeko, rescued from Front Street Shelter in Sacramento in 2018, is the dog that started it all. He now plays a vital role as a mentor dog—helping reactive dogs build neutrality, guiding puppies through early socialization, supporting dogs learning off-leash reliability, and, most importantly, helping fearful dogs learn how to trust and coexist.
Riley, another Belgian Malinois, and Astra, a Border Collie–American Cattle Dog mix, also serve as trusted demo dogs. Despite their different breeds, all three share a high level of obedience and a clear-headed working style that inspires clients to see the potential in their own dogs.
When she’s not working, Alexandria can be found hiking in the Santa Cruz Mountains or Tahoe Basin, off-roading in a Tacoma, or spending time at home settled with her three dogs and cat.
Education never stops at Astral K9.
Alexandria regularly attends seminars hosted by leading trainers and colleagues in the industry. She believes in staying current with science-based training techniques and always leaves a seminar eager to keep learning. This commitment to ongoing education is a core value of her business.
As a coach, Alexandria thrives on simplifying dog behavior and making training approachable, fun, and empowering. Her goal is to help clients feel confident, capable, and connected to their dogs.
Whether you're starting from scratch or navigating complex behavioral issues, she’s there to guide you every step of the way. She hopes that through her programs, you'll fall in love with the process of training—and build a partnership with your dog that lasts a lifetime.
